1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use reknitAI:

• Phone number (for account authentication via OTP)
• Email address (for account identification)
• Display name and profile photo (optional, set by you)
• Moments and posts you create (text, photos, voice recordings)
• Engagement signals from your own posts (views, reactions received)
• Location data (only while the app is open; deleted after 30 minutes)
• Contact hashes (SHA-256 hashes of your contacts' phone numbers, generated on your device — raw contact data never leaves your phone)
• App notification metadata (delivery and open events for reknitAI notifications only — we never access notifications from other apps)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Authenticate your account via phone OTP
• Display your profile to members of your inner circle
• Generate your weekly Rekcap AI digest (with your consent)
• Calculate your Glow Score based on circle interaction patterns
• Detect proximity between circle members who are physically nearby
• Match your hashed contacts to find friends already on reknitAI
• Send push notifications for nudges, rekaps, and circle activity (with your permission)

3. Contact Matching

When you choose to find friends from your contacts, reknitAI:

1. Generates SHA-256 hashes of your contacts' phone numbers entirely on your device
2. Sends only the hashed values to our servers — never names, numbers, or any raw contact data
3. Compares hashes against hashed phone numbers of existing reknitAI users
4. Returns a list of matches so you can add them to your circle

Your raw contact data never leaves your device and is never stored on our servers.

4. AI-Powered Features (Perplexity AI)

reknitAI uses Perplexity AI to generate your weekly Rekcap digest. When this feature is enabled (with your explicit consent):

• Anonymized activity patterns from your circle are sent to Perplexity AI for processing
• This includes interaction counts and anonymized behavioral signals — not names, message content, photos, or personal identifiers
• Perplexity AI's privacy policy applies to data processed by their systems: perplexity.ai/hub/legal/privacy-policy
• You can disable AI-powered insights at any time in Settings → Privacy → AI-powered Rekcap

5. Location Data

• Location is only accessed while the reknitAI app is open and in the foreground
• Location data is used to detect proximity between circle members
• All location data is automatically deleted from our servers after 30 minutes
• We never track your location in the background
• You can disable location access at any time in your device Settings

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with the following service providers only as necessary to operate reknitAI:

• Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure
• Twilio — SMS delivery for phone number verification (OTP)
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud infrastructure and media storage
• Expo / EAS — mobile app delivery and push notifications
• Perplexity AI — AI digest generation (anonymized data only, with your consent)

7. Data Retention & Deletion

• Location pings: deleted automatically after 30 minutes
• Moments: removed from your circle's feed after 24 hours; archived privately for you only
• Account deletion: removes all your data from our systems within 30 days
• You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete Account

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data (request via support@reknitai.com)
• Delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Delete Account in the app)
• Opt out of AI-powered features (Settings → Privacy → AI-powered Rekcap)
• Withdraw contacts permission at any time (device Settings → reknitAI → Contacts)
• Request a data export (Settings → Your Data → Request Export)
